Industry

  • A strategic planning exercise for a company seeking to move from its existing market in telecoms services to the provision of RFID services to a range of public sector markets. The project identified key markets for exploitation, identified potential partners and provided details financial analysis, enabling he client to move rapidly into new markets. (In conjunction with Psi-tran Ltd)
  • A fundraising assignment with a spinout from Newcastle University which had developed a protein –based platform technology with a wide range of sensor and life sciences applications (In collaboration with Q Futures)
  • Work with Delfin Technologies, a Finnish manufacturer of skin measurement instrumentation, to develop sales and marketing channels in the UK. The result has been increased sales across a range of sectors including dermatology research, wound healing and cosmetics.
  • Collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company to explore the potential to turn round a joint venture to develop process monitoring instrumentation employing advanced spectroscopic techniques. The loss of key individuals meant the project could not be resurrected and consequently Psi-ense was responsible for the successful disposal of the remaining stock and equipment.

Government

  • Surrey Enterprise Hub, part of the South East Development Agency’s Enterprise Hub Network. Psi-ense provided support for the Hubs portfolio of high growth companies, financial advice for companies involved with raising funds, and business health checks. Chris Budleigh was the Hub’s Interim Director from September to December 2006.
  • European Space Agency Technology Transfer Programme. The assignment involved the identification of technology coming out of space research programmes in the UK with non-space applications and providing commercialisation support. Close link have been established with several universities in this area including Leicester, Birmingham, the Open University, Southampton, UCL (Mullard Space Science Labs) and Rutherford Appleton Labs.
  • GRIST Fund (Great Ideas in Science & Technology) A SEEDA fund for high growth companies supported by Brighton, Kent and Surrey Universities. Psi-ense administered the fund on behalf of Surrey, indentifying potential recipients, arranging funding panels and providing ongoing client monitoring.
